Good Things

Posted 03/28/09

Good things come a variety ways.  Some would say goodness is around all the time, you just need to know where to look.  Alternatively, goodness is here and you need to be open to it.

Now, I see goodness in everything and it’s our perception of what is good that stands in our way.  Example, my boss complained on more than one occasion about a colleague she felt who undermined her efforts at every turn.  To the point, she wrote a scathing letter to members of her group to get this colleague back but ended up delivering it verbally.

When she first told me the initial story, I thought she was a complainer, just like me, ugh.  I listened because she is my boss.  Yesterday, she excitedly spent an hour telling me about meeting with the same group and the villainess.  In an unprecedented turn of events her project from A to Z.  I injected her colleague actually turned out to be the hero, without her meddling, my boss’ could still be lost in bureaucracy.  The thorn in her side ended up being her golden ticket.

Did my boss agree?  Not really, my comment actually went over her head. It is all in the perception of things.  My perception obviously varies from hers and it should, it’s human nature.  Last year, it probably would go over my head too, the difference a year makes.

Goodness is present all the time you just need to be open to it.    Have a great day.

LUCK: Want some of it?
Posted 01/18/09

Are you lucky?  Do you consider yourself lucky?  If so, you're ahead of the pact when it comes to luck. But for some luck is a fledging dream.  Not only do some believe they are unlucky but consider themselves a magnet for bad things.

We know people who seem to have all the luck.  Like the friend or colleague who has the golden touch or the relative who just does well in everything.

Years ago, during a class my instructor commented on how we are dealt a life and despite our best efforts there are things we cannot change.  Some of us are born with it and others are not. Like her friend she quibbled that things just come easy for her.  But for herself she always chases things like money and career advancement, always struggling and fighting for every dime.  Obviously, she does not feel lucky or fortunate either.

It's this exact mind set that holds you back.  I say our life is 95% how we think and feel about everything.   So when you feel unlucky then you perpetuate it too.   But when you feel lucky and fortunate you perpetuate that too.

So would you rather be lucky or unlucky?  Most of us will opt for luck.   Start now.  How lucky are you to learn that you create your own luck.  It's a state of mind.  Feel and think luck.   Remember the times things went so well for you.  Feel the feeling of that moment or moments when luck was on your side.

Most lucky people will tell you, they see good things happening, they are open to things that otherwise down in the dumps people miss.  Make your own luck today.  Think luck and feel luck.  Have a great day and good luck to you.

WELCOME, ENJOY AND SMILE

HAVE A GREAT DAY

TheHappyPost.com launches its official premier issue on today focusing on the news of the day in a happy, optimistic and upbeat fashion.

In the current time of economic upheaval for most Americans and others around the world, there is a need for news and stories on a positive note.

TheHappyPost.com forged out of the idea when I scanned the web in search of uplifting and happy news.  With the bombardment of  financial and economic news, generally, on the negative side.  For instance, when did you last read of steady growth and expansion in an industry or mass hirings fromt the local plant.  Or how many stories made the news about people who saved their homes from foreclosures or from bankruptcy?  Not often.

Unfortunately, our news outlets report on what sells and garner more attention.  It usually and unfortunately comes at the expense of something or someone's downfall or demise.

TheHappyPost.com offers a new and different approach to keeping people informed.   In the crusp of media giants, TheHappyPost.com claims its stake on the opposite spectrum by offering it's readers a daily dose of good news.  Welcome and enjoy.

Enough Already
Posted 03/28/09

Crash, economic recession, greedy Wall Street execs, bankruptcies, foreclosures......

At every turn, the news is bad.  On the telly or in a newspaper, it is there too.   Some days you just want good things.  Like the firefighter who dressed as Spiderman to get a small child off a ledge.  Or the villainess who turned in the hero.

The economy will mend, Wall Street will regain it's stature and people will buy homes.   In the meantime, we can inundate with good things.  Stock prices are at their all time low great time to buy, ditto for house prices.   Prepaid is all the rage and intrinsically will stave of another recession if you really put your mind around.  My father’s wise words: if you don’t have the cash you cannot afford.  Truer now than ever.

Enough already with the bad and depressing things, focus more on what we have already going for us: hope, faith, love, family and freedom.   That’s just a start, the list of good things in our life right now is endless.  Focus on that and anything is possible.

3 Random Things....
The lastest fad on Facebook and now in emails is to write Random things about yourself.  I receive so many messages and emails about other peoples random things, that I will put out one to you:

Write 3 Random things in your life right now that are good and does not involve money, here's mine:
1.  Spring
2.  Seeing a robin
3.  Hearing from a dear friend this week

NORMAN ROCKWELL and the Crash of 2008
Posted 01/18/09

We are the sole creators of our own existence.  As the world around us, even in our own immediate world, feel the effects of the financial crisis, it is somewhat our own fault were in this predicament.   Yes, big business and the financial giants  are responsible for creating and maintaining the credit crisis and plunging our economies to records lows but we have to accept responsibility for our own situation.  Did we really need to buy a home we could normally not afford?  Did we really need to buy an expensive SUV we could not afford?   Did we really need to purchase items on credit that we could not afford in the present.  Nor  could we afford in the long run.   NO.  NO.  NO.  NO.

Capitalism took on a new bold face, eking into people’s lives around the world as consumers strived for the American Dream.   We got so caught up in the superficial life portrayed in the media mainly through crafty psychological advertising and marketing aiming at our core beliefs.   But do not blame the advertising industry for doing thier jobs, actually quiet well considering their success in capturing your attention.   As individuals, we lost our way and made poor financial choices to fill a superficial need that went mainstream.  My father always said "don't buy it if you cannot pay for it in full with cash."  He was right, not holding too much confidence in the idea of credit.  He built a small and humble living in real estate with no assistance from banks.  He bought and refurbished homes at a low or close to nothing price and rented them out.  No interest bearing loans, no credit debt just plain old cash.

As the economy tanks we learn the valued lessons of past:  do not spend what you do not have, do not buy what you cannot afford to pay in full and stay debt free.   Easier said than done for some people pointing out the buying into a dream, similar to the Norman Rockwell pictures.   It’s only a picture; it was his impression of what life ought to be, not what it is.

So globally we bought into a Norman Rockwell life not reality with the help and manipulation of different forces.  I call this the age of Psyche Exploitation.  At no time has our psyche been under such a well thought out exploitation in every area of our lives.   Like the luxury automobile ad promising an extraordinary life as attainable as a loaf of bread for the ordinary consumer.  Our psyche is being exploited and manipulated a record level as society strives to understand human motivation and human makeup.  Once understood and mapped these findings are used for the masses in every conceivable fashion.  As with most things, marketing and advertising has a place, like an insect or a light bulb, each has a place.  One could say we just had a credit infestation.  Still in the midst this crisis, we are aware of it now and feeling the effects in many areas of our life.

However, acknowledging the problem is the first step, the second is figuring out what to do or how to approach it.   True to form, capitalism is spinning its wheels taking advantage of hard times.  This year alone will see hundreds if not thousands of start ups in credit consolation, credit advisors, credit A TO Z companies.  But use what you learned: if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. Listen to your gut, trust yourself.  If it does not feel right do not do it, remember one man's take on life is just simply that.  Creat your own life.

Use 2009 as the starting point in your financial independence and keep true to form.  Just think of your life without the money issues and live your best life.   It’s simple and to our benefit a large number of credit institutions are curtailing credit to even the soundest customers as you read this.  It’s to our advantage, one less enticement in the lure to live out the Norman Rockwell life.   Be fine in ’09.
