About Prayers: One evening a couple months after my mom passed away, a group of girlfriends and I went out on a Saturday night. Fun filled with laughter, dancing and playing pool, we ended our evening with a bite to eat at a local diner. Here, on a cold January early morning, a bunch of girlfriends hummed with conversation of our eventful night in the city.
For the first time in months since my mother’s death life began getting back to normal. Glancing down to admire and cherish my mom’s diamond engagement ring horror struck, a missing diamond. How stupid of me to wear the delicate ring that needed repairs before being worn but impulsively I put it on that night.
Panic overtook the lighthearted moment as the waitress appeared and asked what the problem was. She went on to take our order, deliver our food and as we were leaving, we bumped into the waitress outside on her cigarette break. She was standing in the door front holding her necklace with a pendant of Saint Anthony praying for my lost diamond.
With a glimmer of hope, we ventured back to the hotspot, convinced the bouncer to let us in, there amongst the night of reveling and slightly under a pool table was my Mom's diamond. I found it! Extraordinary and nothing short of a miracle. Really, you see, the night club with four levels was the "IN" hot spot that season, hundreds of young twenty something’s trampled, danced and converged on the place. The pool area a crowded favorite now littered with cigarette butts and beer cups and my missing diamond. Unbelievable.
Before heading home I thanked the waitress from the bottom of my heart. From that day on I had faith in Saint Anthony and the power of prayer.
